About RITA
Rita is on the L.A. Co-op Lab Board and is a worker-owner of the Tree Yoga Cooperative in South Central Los Angeles. Growing up in South Central, Rita never saw yoga in her neighborhood, but saw yoga in the mainstream media practiced by thin, European American (White) women and didn't see anyone that looked like her practicing yoga. It wasn’t until later as an adult that Rita found Yoga as a tool for mental health and physical wellness. At the Tree, Rita has played an important role over the years in creating access to yoga in L.A.'s Spanish-speaking communities and also mentors other Spanish speaking yoga practitioners.
